It reminds me of summer sunshine, lemons and flowers.

At this time, summer is over in my part of the world, but hey, I live in a country where people go to the beach at anytime of the year. Well, at least, I do.

So a summer top is a must project no matter the season.

This bandeau in lemon yellow would make you want to go to the beach often.

Dani Bandeau Crochet Pattern

Finished size: 28” in length and 8” in width

Materials used:

Lightweight cotton yarn in yellow

4mm hook

3/8 black foldover elastic (1.5 yards)

sewing needle

black sewing thread

scissors

Stitches used:

ch- chain

sc- single crochet

hdc- half double crochet

picot- chain 3, slip stitch on the first chain

Notes:

The size of this pattern is large. If you want to make a smaller size, chain less in multiples of 2 plus 1. To adjust the length, add or lessen more rows.

The length of the foldover elastic would also depend on your finished piece.

The pattern

Ch 45

ROW 1 – Sc on second chain and on each chain across, ch 1 turn (44 st)

ROW 2 – 3ch (counts as 1st and 2-chain sp) sk next 2stitches, hdc 38  across , ch2, sk 2st, hdc on last stitch, ch1 turn (44 st)

ROW 3 – Ch1, sc on first st, 2sc on chain sp, sc on 3rd loop of each hdc, , 2sc on chain sp, sc on the first chain of starting chain, ch 1 turn (44 st)

ROW 4 – hdc on each st across, ch1 turn (44 st)

ROW 5 – sc on 3rd loop of the next 43 stitches, sc on the last stitch, ch 1 turn (44 st)

Repeat rows 2-5 until the piece is 28” in length (or the length you need for your body size. I ended with row 73)

ROW 74 –sc in each st across

Do not fasten off.

Chain 141, sl st on the second chain and in each chain across.

PICOT EDGING

*(Sc on each of the next 2 rows; work 1sc, picot, sc in the space); skip next row, repeat * ending with – sk next row, sc on last row.

Chain 141, sl st on the second chain and in each chain across

Working down the side, (sc 10, ch5, sc on next st) repeat * 3 more times

Work on the bottom edging

Sc on the first row, *( work 1sc, picot, sc in the space , skip next row, Sc on each of the next 2 rows;); repeat * ending with 1sc, picot, sc in the space , skip next row, sc on last row

Working on the side; *( chain 5, sc on the next 11 st) repeat 3 more times.

Fasten off. Weave in end.

Sew ruched effect in the middle part of the piece.

Measure and cut the foldover elastic for the top and bottom part of the piece.

Weave foldover elastic on the spaces on the top and bottom edges.

With black thread, sew the ends of the elastic.

Weave straps as shown in the picture or you can be creative and weave as you see fit.
